Used Materials Guide

Math·U·See does not sell used materials, but there are many websites that do. Math·U·See cannot guarantee the reliability of used materials, but we do encourage the use of used books and manipulatives.

Use the valuable information in the buyer’s and seller’s guides to make the process run more smoothly and to get the best deal possible.

Buyer’s Guide

Things to look for…

  • Make sure that a teacher/parent book pack contains both the manual and the DVD or VHS.
  • Check to make sure that the student pack contains both the student manual and the test booklet.
  • Read about our manipulative blocks to see if all the pieces are included in the set you’re buying.
  • When purchasing the skip count CD and book, ask which version it is. We have released several versions, the current version featuring a childrens choir singing the songs. Make sure you are getting the one you want.
  • On popular auction sites, Math·U·See materials have been known to sell for more than the price of new materials. Check our online catalog to see if you are paying more for used materials than you would for new.
  • Be sure to ask the seller if they have marked the books in any way.
  • Math·U·See did a complete revision of the student and teacher books in 2004. The scope and sequence were changed to make it easier to learn the concepts. Extra practice sheets were added, along with many other changes to make the books better and more up-to-date. The older books have the names Introduction, Foundation, Advanced, etc., while the new updated books go by Greek letters: Alpha, Beta, Gamma etc. Make sure you know which edition you are purchasing. If you have any questions about the new materials versus the older materials, give us a call at 1-888-854-MATH (6284).
