Special Education and Math-U-See

January 10, 2008

Math·U·See is being used with special-ed students, and we are seeing great results. For example, twelve public schools in Albuquerque, New Mexico used Math·U·See in their special-ed departments during the 2006-2007 school year. Here is the data from the first year: 27% was the average score prior to using Math·U·See, and 63% was the average score after using Math·U·See for one year… a 133% increase!

I was just in Albuquerque and got to meet a few of the wonderful teachers using Math-U-See. Here is a slideshow with some pictures I took while there.

Oh, we’ll call it a typo.

(I couldn’t decide which one of my two blogs to link to up there. I decided on the homeschool blog I’m trying to get back going after having been down a year.)

We love MUS! I will start using it with our fourth child (in kindergarten now) this coming summer right after a short break. We had in her “regular” school this year as we have not been able to afford her physical and occupational therapy privately anymore. She has done quite well in everything except math. She is way behind in math and I attribute much of it to the curriculum they are using. We have used MUS with our older three children. I can’t wait to use it with the next three.
