Math is for the birds…

January 28, 2007

Update: We have a winner!

The winner of the best caption award goes to….(drum roll)

Amanda – for the captionĀ  “If you build it, they will come!”

She wins a Math-U-Tote bag :-)

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming :-)

Here is a fun picture that Kelli sent in a while back.

Birds Block Tower

I’m having trouble coming up with a witty caption for the picture and need some help.

To make things interesting we’ll pick the funniest caption and send the creator a free Math-U-Tote bag.

So put on your thinking cap and submit a creative comment with your captivating caption. Capisce? :-)

I have a 5 and 6 y/o and we are working our way thru Alpha. My son is a multi-sensory learner, so tomorrow we will be taking the manipulatives to the pool to use as diving sticks (dive for the “5″, dive for the “7″) I went to the blog looking for more ideas on how to get him to remember the colors. As for the picture —-hmmmm. A Birds Eye Math? The Early Bird Gets the Math? Sorry, it’s late.

Hello :)

I am trying to find the best place to ask about Math-U-See and captioning for the hearing impaired. I know this isn’t the place, but for lack of a better idea, I’ll ask here anyway :)
Are the Math-U-See DVDs captioned? Would they be of any benefit to my hearing impaired son? We got all excited about ordering Math-U-See for the first time until I realized we haven’t checked into that part yet!
I thank you for your response!

As for a picture caption, ‘O Math can U See’ is what my kiddo came up with–she said the birds looked like they were at attention atop a flagpole LOL!

Clarification…in other words, are the DVDs largely visual enough to the point that (if not captioned) missing some of the dialogue would not negate the benefits of the DVDs?

Clear as mud ;)

My kids like to build with the blocks, too…but I’m kind of protective of them!

Hey, I see the code for the MathUBlog, but I’d really like to display a button that will take my readers right to the curriculum home page. Do you have a button for that?
