They both started with the same size pizza. Kelsey ate 3/8, or 9/24 of her pizza; Riley ate 1/3, or 8/24 of her pizza. So, Kelsey won the contest. She ate approximately 29.45 sq. in. of pizza compared to Riley’s approx. 26.18 sq. in.; that’s about 55.63 sq. in. of pizza eaten altogether. In fractions, using 22/7 as an approximation of pi, Kelsey ate 29 13/28 sq. in. and Riley ate 26 4/21 sq. in. Together, they ate 55 55/84 sq. in. of pizza.
